Encanto
PTA fund raising movie night at Park View Primary.
In September 2017 things took an incredible turn for us when we started up our Classic Cinema Club at The Longfield Suite, right in the heart of Prestwich.
The brainchild of our dear friend and group chair, the late Nigel Devereux, this was a project leaning towards the traditional, classic, ‘old favourite’ style of movie.
Aimed at older people struggling with loneliness and social isolation, or those simply desiring a non-multiplex cinema-going experience and the opportunity to socialise, the Classic Cinema rapidly became a favourite Longfield fixture.
We were able to get the scheme off the ground thanks to partnerships we forged with Ambition For Ageing and Bury Venues (Bury MBC), and funding we received from both. Although the Classic Cinema Club is in abeyance just now, we are working on a new model that better suits us, the venue, and our partners, and hope to revivify the project in the not too distant future.
