PAIN & GLORY
Written and Directed by: Pedro Alomodóvar
Starring: Antonio Banderas, Asier Etxeandia, Leonardo Sbaraglia, Penélope Cruz
Pain and Glory tells the story of Salvador Mallo (Banderas), a film director in physical decline, as he reflects on his past. His childhood in Valencia in the 60s; his first adult love in Madrid in the 80s; the pain of the breakup of that love; learning to write as therapy to forget the unforgettable, and the early discovery of cinema.
Pain and Glory talks about creation, about the difficulty of separating it from one’s own life and about the passions that give it meaning and hope. In recovering his past, Salvador finds the urgent need to recount it, and in that need he also finds his salvation.
We screen a new film the second Sunday of every month, except July and August. We aim to offer a programme that covers a broad range of genres and interests, in the hopes of appealing to as wide an audience as possible.
As well as our regular screenings, we also work within the community to offer additional screening events–click below to find out more.
